Savannah is 2!!!

Savannah turned two on the 18th! We had a great time in Vernal to celebrate. We took the kids to a pumpkin festival and a cornmaze. They got to feed goats, go on a mini train ride, and get lost in the maze. It was great fun! Savannah is a bit obsessed with Diego, her party was themed around the great animal rescuer. Savannah is such a sweet, beautiful, funny girl. She loves dressing up, Diego, babies, Diego, reading, Diego...you get the idea. She is talking so much and bossing everyone around. She loves her brother and they have so much fun together. Ofcourse they do have the occasional disagreement, we are working on having perfect children who never fight or argue, but it hasn't happend yet! We love and adore Savannah Skye and could not live without her! As you can see from the photo, Gavin had a little trouble with someone else having a birthday. He wanted to know why his birthday wasn't that day. He said it was too long to wait for January! He was very eager to help open presents and play with them. He gave me all the details for how he wanted his birthday party. Ahhh....kids! We love 'em!

What a Week!

So we got our super adorable puppy last weekend. He is so cute and we just love him. He has been a bit of a stinker but we knew going in the small dogs and male dogs are harder to potty train. Our breeder didn't help us out with that much by letting him only use potty pads and never really introducing him to grass. It has been quite the week. He is now sleeping through the night which is such a blessing (I really love to sleep) and he is mostly pretty sweet. He is definitely part schnauzer as he is a sniffer and a digger.

In other fun news, the reason I have not posted a million cute pics of our boy is that our computer that we have had for three years and that has been across the country and world with us is finally dead. We have replaced our power cord four times and this time it has only been about a month and it will not stay powered without pushing the cord in the back with all your might. Even then I can only get enough charge to see what emails I have received but not enough to actually read them. I think it is time to officially call it quits. If anyone knows where I can get a cheap desktop let me know. I now have to do all my computer work at school and I try not to stay here any more than I have to. As soon as I find a genius way to get my pics from my camera to the web without a computer I will let you know.

Nate's mom and sister and her kids came to stay with us last weekend. We had a good time in spite of all the very un-Boise-like weather. This town is so geared to the outdoors that when it rains there is NOTHING to do. Bowie was in heaven with all the kids to play with though. We are going to get him good and socialized with all the visitors we have had and will have in the next few weeks.

I would love to comment on my favorite conference talks but with all the craziness this week/month/year/lifetime they are all still just sitting on my tivo. How I would just love to have 8 hours to spare!

Oh my gosh!

I being slightly or even a little more retarded, could not figure out how to get here for the life of me. I couldn't call upon my memory because I have none. I am in Mesa. It is blazing hot down here. As for Matta's I think they just moved it to Brown and Higley! Mesa Drive is kinda a bad part of town now. They will get a lot more business from a more affluent crowd out east. Just not to far out east. I am expecting it to cool off any day now, and my friend George will come back to work on my house. We need to finish the Arizona room and the bathroom floor and then I can start working on the yard. Which is in bad need of an overhaul. The winter crowd will also be here soon and I hope to be able get some kind of job. They are building like crazy all around me. I visited Dustin a few weeks ago, he is doing well and taking some kind of class. Kory is welllll, Kory! Never a dull moment. If you can dream it he can take it apart. Love to everyone! Hopefully you will see me a little more often. Paula

Traffic Meter Lights

Today is a soapbox day - I get on the freeway at 1600 North in Orem pretty much every morning and we have a new metering light to deal with. You just have to love the logic of UDOT. They changed what has been 1 lane for years and years into 2 lanes so they could put up 2 lights so you merge back into 1 lane to get on the freeway!! Plus it is an uphill on ramp so what the lights really do is make you stop so you can't even get a decent run and get up to speed to merge into the freeway traffic. I suppose they have all kinds of data and research about how great the metering system works but for those of us in the trenches every day, it just doesn't make any sense. This is actually only one of a long list of things I would love to discuss with UDOT but I think I will give up for now. Hooray for UDOT!!

On the bright side I stopped at Thanksgiving Point yesterday and got to visit with Mike for awhile. We talked about family and business and had a great visit. Friday is the last Farmers Market at TGP - Julie and I haven't made it there once this year - I can't believe how fast the time goes by - so we are going to try to get there on our way to Salt Lake on Friday.

From what Megan says it sounds like they are having great fun in Vernal - sure hope to hear from more of you - how and what you are doing!!

Hi from Vernal!

Hello everyone!
Just a little update from the Barnes/Hanberg house. We have been doing a lot of fishing in the last month. Not a lot of catching, but a lot of fishing. My mom was up for the weekend in early September and we went to Oaks Park (where this picture of her and Luke was taken.) We only caught one fish, and it was cold! But we had a nice time. Pen had to come up so that her and my dad could go pick out all the tile and carpet and colors for their new house!
Then, we met Molly and Paxton and the kids @ Moon Lake, outside Altamont, and fished for the day. We caught 7 fish that day! And the kids had such a nice time running around and playing. It was fairly cold that day, and at one point we all had to sit in the truck because it was raining so hard, but we still had such a good time.
Russell started a new job as a water hauler on 09/29/08. He really likes it. It will be a better job, and he will make more money. Duane is still at Cutters Wireline, and will probably be moving up to CEO any day now! (So nice having him live with us, we may not let him move into his own house at the end of next month!) And we can't even wait for the end of the school year when my mom will move up here and we will get to see her everyday. I am still at the clinic, working for my same doctor. Luke still goes to Russell's moms' house while I work and loves it! He is getting so big and smart. He is talking a lot, and has just started having little conversations! He is really excited about Halloween; well, mostly he just really likes pumpkins. We got his Halloween costume (a beagle) and he packs it around with him all over the house.
Hope everyone is doing well, we sure like to read all of the updates on the blog.
Love all of you,
Meg, Russell, Luke and Big D (Duane)
